Ripe Berries, whiffs of raspberrries and blackcurrant - great varietal definition. Juicy tannins lead the palate to a spicy round finish encapsulating layers of fruit flavours. French and American oak were used to age the wine for 12 months. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
SOUTHBANK ESTATE CABERNET MERLOT
Aged in new and seasoned French and American oak for 14 months prior to bottling.Dark ruby red. Lifted sweet blueberry fruit combines with the oak derived notes of mocha and toast.
A complex combination of grapey sweetness and creamy berry furits with toast and coffee oask.
The Merlot predominance gives the palate its characteristic rounded structure with a moderate volume fo fine-grained tannin. Stronly flavoured red meat dishes and BBQ.
RUPERT & ROTHSCHILD CLASSIQUE
An elegant mélange of coriander and black pepper enhanced with layers of blackberry fruit. Well rounded with a soft tannin structure supported by earthy undertones. The grapes were hand-picked from mid February to end March 2003. Recommended with crispy roast leg of duck with wild mushrooms, slow cooked lamb with olive oil and rosemary, or decadent chocolate mousse cake. Rupert & Rothschild Classique 2003 has been selected for First and Business Class on the Johannesburg - Hong Kong - Johannesburg route as from December 2005 to November 2006. 55% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon.
